Five thousand years ago, rain fell on Linderöd Ridge in southern Sweden. The rainwater percolated through layer after layer of soil, and through layers of glacial stone deposits, gravel and limestone. The rain that fell was as pure as water could be (this was long before the era of pollution). And slowly, so infinitely slowly, the rainwater passed through Mother Nature's own filter and was enriched with healthy minerals and salts along the way. Gradually this water decided to collect and form an artesian spring, almost 200 meters underground. An artesian spring is the finest a spring can be since it means that the spring builds its own hydrostatic pressure, ready to burst to the surface.
Years later, a remarkable thing happened. A well-driller was testing his new deep-drilling bore on his own land. When the bore reached a depth of nearly 200 meters, up burst a pillar of water like a fountain, 4 1/2 meters high. As you can understand, it was the clear rainwater from 5000 years earlier that again saw the light of day. Absolutely clean prehistoric water!
Today, Malmberg bottles one of the finest mineral waters available. The Malmberg mineral water - we call it Malmberg Original - has a low salt content, a fresh distinct intensity, and a neutral mineral tone. We only add a slight amount of carbonation - for a refreshing sparkle!
